Handva
Indian food is known for its beautiful blend of spices and mouthwatering flavours. Talking about one of the popular regional dishes of Gujarat is full of flavours. Gujarati food generally has a touch of slight sweetness. Overall it has a blast of flavours in every bite. Today in these post I'm sharing the recipe of all time favourite dish called Handva which every Gujarati and to be honest every Indian people love and enjoy. It is kind of a spicy cake with ample mix of spices and veggies. Undoubtedly it is cooked once in a week at every gujarati house. It will boost up your taste buds for sure.
Ingredients :
Handva flour - 250 gm
Butter Milk - 1 cup
salt - to taste
red chilli powder - 1 tbs
turmeric - 1 tsp
coriander powder - 2 tbs
asofetida - 1/2 tsp
mustard seeds - 1 tsp
whole dry red chilli - 2
oil - 3 tbs
jaggery - 50 gm
sesame seeds - 2 tbs
mix veg - 1 cup
(onion,
bottel guard,
carrot - grated
, peas, french beans)
ginger and garlic paste - 2 tbs
water - as required
Method :
In a large bowl take Handva flour and add buttermilk and keep it to rest for 5-6 hr. After the mix gets fermented add ginger garlic paste, all the spices , veggies and jaggery. Add water to bring running consistency . Now for preparing tempering take oil in vessel and heat add mustard seeds, and let is crackle then add asofatida , sessame seed , whole red chilli and add to the mix. Give a quick mix. Now take a non Stick pan and add oil into it and add half of the mix. cover the pan and let it cook for 15 mins on low flame. Cook the other side with lid open for about 10 mins.
Delicious handva is ready to eat.
Taste best when served hot with the drizzle of groundnut oil.
